Hetzler's Fakebook
Hetzler's Fakebook
On the web since 2000
I took a leave of absence from work after my wife, Carole, died of cancer in March 2001. I spent it playing  music, taking walks with my dog and putting this site together. These activities proved more satisfying than working in the corporate world so I made my leave permanent and in 2002 started teaching music.

Hetzler's Fakebook went live on August 27, 2000 as an Alta Vista Community Page. It had 14 tunes, three pages and 0.3 Gig of bandwidth. Visitors were few and far between. From those humble beginnings the site has grown to include 548 tunes, 102 Gig of bandwidth and averages over 200,000 page views per year.

When you can hear the music, adjust the tempo and see it written out you will learn faster. These things helped me and I hope they will help you. However, they are not a substitute for taking lessons and playing with others. Part of the charm of this music is the socialization it engenders. Technical proficiency in isolation is not what this music is about.
