Jigs are often the first tunes beginning fiddlers learn. They are simple to play and the rhythm seems to flow naturally from the notes. The following tempo conventions apply to jigs on this page :
- Single Jig - a dotted quarter note = 120
- Double Jig (or slide) - a dotted quarter note = 130
- Slip Jig - a dotted quarter note = 140
- English Jigs - a dotted quarter note = 112
